BENEFITS OF USE

Allows for occupancy while clean up takes place; or allows for isolation of a single room, lowers clean up costs, keeps mercury from being released into environment, safe and easy to use and proven to reduce and eliminate mercury vapor.

HOW IT WORKS

Mercury vapor is drawn through this appliance that is equipped with a pre-filter and proprietary iodine-impregnated secondary sorbent filter scrubber. As the mercury vapor contacts the iodine-impregnated sorbent, the elemental mercury is trapped chemically converted to mercury (type II) iodide (HgI2), a mercury salt.

APPLICATIONS

Cleaning air in breezing zone for spill clean up, dental offices, manufacturing facilities, room decontamination, medical offices, schools, etc.

FILTER SIZE & TYPE

The filters illustrated above is designed for a single room or a small residence from 200 to 2000 square feet. Other sizes and styles are available. Please contact us for additional information.

FILTER CAPACITY

Because of multiple variables such as, room size, room contents, floor type, amount of mercury spilled, time involved between a mercury spill and removal and others, multiple filters may be required to remove mercury vapor.
Typically, the filter illustrated above, when used appropriately, will remove mercury vapor from a 200-2000 ft2 room, with carpeting in approximately 8 hours.

OTHER INFORMATION

In addition to using this proprietary sorbent (cloth type) material in air filters, this sorbent has been used successfully on spills of elemental mercury by placing the sorbent cloth over the spilled mercury until such time the mercury could be removed. Real-time air monitoring showed mercury vapor concentrations 100-1000 times LOWER in the area where this sorbent was used verses where this sorbent was not used. Further, this proprietary sorbent has been shown to be an effective surface decontaminant where elemental mercury has contacted certain surfaces.

IMPORTANT NOTICE:

Since spills of elemental mercury are potentially dangerous due to mercury vapor concentrations, these filters are recommended only for areas where liquid elemental mercury has been completely removed or during removal process. It is strongly recommended that professional air monitoring accompanies the use of this filter. This filter is only indicated for the removal of mercury vapor. Certain individuals with a known or suspected allergy to IODINE should NOT use this filter or be exposed to the area where this filter may have been used.
